Jes - I can't even begin to guess how many weddings you have woven together and attended. I still don't think I have thanked you enough for orchestrating our big day. Read Jessica's comment and you will see that the night was indeed unforgettable. I love the black and white cookie analogy. Love.

Gale - It's not often that I'm told I have a "lovely attitude," so I will cherish this moment :) I do think the event itself, the fleeting magic makes the taxing trip to and fro well worth it. There is also something amazing about attending a wedding when pregnant. It's like an overdose of vitality.

Allison - I am not much of a dancer, but I love the dancing at weddings too. I love that all types - straight-laced and crazy, sober and not-so-sober, congregate and get down. There is something wonderful about the collective toss-off of inhibition. I love that you are a note-taker. As you should be. Your time will come. And sooner than later, I imagine :) Don't worry. I will not tell boyfriend.

Jessica - Weddings do rock. And yours did! But, alas, it was another wedding at which I was pregnant and couldn't live it up. I am sensing a theme. As for that winter wedding in NY... it wasn't half bad, was it? Hard to beat a dangling blue whale, and a crazy trombone player, and an unbelievable wedding planner :)

I LOVE weddings and had a blast planning my own. I still occassionally watch Whose Wedding Is It Anyway. I saw one of the planners at a cousin's wedding and it was like I met a celebrity.

The most memorable wedding I've been to (next to my own) was in Manhattan. It was winter time and really cold. The wedding was picture perfect and the reception was extraordinary at the Museum of Natural History. I befriended a guy who also sat at the kid's table (we were 18)and we cut a rug the whole night to the great live band!

The dancing! After the ceremony and the food and toasts and everything, everyone's feeling good and just wants to let loose. Seeing the bride and groom so happy, praying they'll remember that and feel that for the rest of their lives. And (don't tell me boyfriend this...) right now, when I'm sitting on the white folding chairs, church pews, or whatever, checking out the tuxes and gowns, the flowers and food and favors, I'm mentally taking little notes. Storing away things I like and don't like, keeping track for whenever it's my turn.

First off, I have to commend you for having such a lovely attitude. Many people only grudgingly attend weddings. And it is true, attending someone's wedding (esp. if out of town) can be a hassle. I too love a wedding, but sometimes the coming and going really tries to kill the fun. I'm inspired, though, by your infection with the wonderful romance of it all. Especially inspired by your ability to revel in it even just two weeks away from delivery. Your pal is really lucky to have such a selfless friend.

My most memorable wedding (besides my own), is actually similar to your friend's. My little sister's. Also last Fall. And I was also heavily pregnant, and the sole matron of honor. It was also at my parents' home, outdoors and under tents, on a beautiful afternoon. She looked stunning, and the day was utterly perfect. I don't know when I've ever seen her so happy.

Ahhh Aidan, as you know we share a love of weddings for a variety of reasons! I get a rush looking at every couple and can almost taste the anticipation of their nervousness and excitement. Its so infectious and addicting, its hard to believe so many years have gone by producing them and enjoying them as a guest. Weddings are these wonderful Timeless elements in life that we will always have to look back and forward upon. They are like the beloved Black and White cookie; you get the best of everything... enjoy Cape cod!! xxojg
