Yes, my husband does tell me I am "a good Mommy" and you made me realize that maybe I don't say it enough to him. I tease him about being the pushover and the kids hate me because I make them follow the rules. (Mind you, I have a 10, 8, and 4 year old.) You know, the good cop, bad cop routine. Well, I guess I get caught up in being the bad cop wanting to be the good cop so much that perhaps I get a bit jealous. However, someday...my kids will look back and hopefully realize I parented them to help them become good, smart, responsible, and loving adults. But when he tells me I am a good Mommy, it makes all the struggles and stress melt away. Thanks for the reminder to not just think it but say it. Love your posts. Keep 'em coming! :)

Those random comments, often from family, always take me by surprise and brighten my entire day. Scratch that, my week. They so often come at the most needed time too.

This brought tears to my eyes. You are both good parents indeed! Way to go, Aidan and Husband.

These reminders are important. I think as parents we focus too much on what we don't do right and not enough on what we DO for our children. Good for you for saying it out loud!

You're so right. The acknowledgement matters so much. Good for you both, doing the right things as parents and as partners. A wonderful reminder.

I worried over all the same things when Asher was getting glasses. It's gone SO smoothly. And yes, I heard the same compliment from many people. It took me a while to accept it, because OF COURSE I was thinking I should have caught it even earlier. Sheesh, we moms are hard on ourselves.

I am stunned by this. I have two children, 17 and 13. In 17 years I have done plenty of things that have been "good mother" moments. My husband has excelled as a father.

But I tend to focus on improving.

I find this refreshing. You model for your children, for me and for that sea of readers what it looks like to acknowlege oneself. It looks lovely.

I read this and find myself larger; as a woman, a mother and a human being.
