{Halloween 2010; On our way to trick-or-treat on my childhood block}
The trick is to remember when you were a kid. When the day was so big and so sweet.
The trick is to let go of Should. To let it be a candy day. It is just one day.
The trick is to sneak mini Snickers when they are not looking.
The trick is to let them run and find the goodies and find themselves.
The treat is to realize that they are yours. On this goofy and glorious day. On every day.
The treat is to realize your creatures have the confidence to become a green monster and a yellow robot and a bizarre DJ.
The treat is to see the man you love in all orange. Wearing a diaper bag, clutching a pumpkin, leading the way.
The treat is to go back and do it all again.

Happy Halloween! How did you spend the day? Did you love this holiday as a child? Do you still love it? What were the tricks of your day? The treats? Anyone else have plans to steal collected candy from little ones?
Bonus points for the first person who can name the costumes above!

Plex, Brobee and, of course, DJ Lance Rock! Haha. I love it! This begs the question- what were YOU dressed as? We trick-or-treated with our Cleopatra and our baby elephant last night in our neighborhood. So much fun.
So cute, Yo Gabba Gabba! Were you the pink one? Love it. We had so much fun trick or treating with our ballerina angel last night, she loved the candy and walking up all the steps. Too cute!
I have no idea what any of them are, but I do know that Husband is quite a good sport. Diaper bag + Halloween costume = terrific husband! Hope you all had fun and are coming down off of the sugar high slowly.
I always kind of wondered what Halloween looked like in the city- it was hard for me to picture. I always visualize it as being much more suburban.
So much fun!! Who knew we could find so much wisdom hidden on such a scary day. And for the record, my husband would TOTALLY don that outfit in the name of making his children smile. We are lucky ladies aren’t we?
LOVE this, Aidan. I want our family to dress in themes every year, but my husband doesn’t want to. I mean, he’s a beautiful father, but this is a bit beyond him.
This is massive fun. Thank you for sharing.
Yesterday, my two girls were 4 and 5 years old. Today, they are 16 and 17.
Your post makes me smile. Savor these moments. Trust me, they DO pass by even more quickly than people tell you.
I liked this post and I like that husband was sport enough to put on that costume. I love the giddiness of Halloween and the kids running around with that extra bounce in their step.
Great costumes. My kids, my husband and I all LOVE Halloween. Putting off taking the Halloween decor down as long as possible. Pretty soon, however, it is going to just make us the crazy people with a front yard garden full of fake spiders and spider webs.
