Okay. So it's officially official: I love doing these Friday Loves. I'm not sure why. It's something about the show and tell, the sharing and caring, the hunting and gathering, the reveling in things silly and serious, goodies physical and metaphysical. Anyway, I hope you are digging this Friday fun as much as I am and that this week's finds send you into sweet spirits for the weekend ahead. As always, please share your current loves in the comment box below. TGIF, kids!

1. Metaphorically Speaking.

If you know me at all, you know I am a rabid fan of symbolism. A while back, Sister C gave me this fabulous book I Never Metaphor I Didn't Like by Mardy Grothe and I still flip through it all the time and carry it with me for those emergency metaphor cravings.

2. Distressed Denim for Tiny Divas.

So, Big Girl wore these patchy 5-Pocket Zara boyfriend jeans to school yesterday. "We" paired 'em with a bright yellow Polo and her gray Supergas. To top it off, I wrangled her hair into a messy bun. Too cute.

3. Spark It.

I'm always on the lookout for ways to spark my own creativity and this writing prompt journal 642 Things to Write About by the San Francisco Writers' Grotto is great. I scooped it up at Anthropologie (love) along with a pair of amazing hunter green velvet skinny jeans from AG. I might be abstaining from wine this year, but clearly not from shopping. Alas.

4. Sleep!

We are big on sleep chez Rowley. Ever since we welcomed our first little girl, we've been big believers in the well-placed sound machine. We have one in the girls' rooms and two in our own bedroom (to block that splendid staccato of NYC street noise). Husband and I have these great Brookstone travel sound machines on our respective bedsides. We love them because they are small enough for travel, nice-looking, and boast a great array of soothing sounds. Our favorite is Rain.

5. Pouches with Pizzazz.

After a nice al fresco date night meal at the Standard Grill, Husband and I popped into the Urban Space Meatpacking market and stumbled upon Pamela Barsky's wacky and wonderful zipper pouches decorated with irreverent and clever words (My lipstick is redder than your lipstick, My butt is exactly the right size). Who can't use a pretty little pouch for pens, makeup, errant pacifiers?

6. One Word: Yummeth.

Imagine this: Two enormous fresh-baked chocolate chunk cookies held together with homemade ice cream. I've always been a fan of the tried and true vanilla ice cream sandwich from Jacques Torres, but Husband and I shared a salted caramel one this week and let's just say it didn't disappoint. Not for the calorically-shy; perfect for halving or quartering as eating a whole one might land you on the couch and force you to ingest some ultra-insipid reality television.

7. Finding Time.

Okay, so I don't want to jinx it, but I've actually been making some serious progress on my next novel. And it's all because of Mac Freedom, an amazing productivity software that blocks Internet for set periods of time. It truly amazes me how much I can accomplish when I am not incessantly checking email or Facebook. I am genuinely thankful that social media didn't exist when I was in school.

Do you have fun dressing yourself, your kids? Do you have a hard time focusing/writing in this age of social media? What's your favorite dessert these days? How much sleep do you get on a given night and do you use any "sleep-aids"?
